3 Fail-Safe Work Outfits To Fall Back On According to my calculations, if you work full-time you’ll be required to throw together around 240 office-appropriate lewks per year. If you’re anything like moi, a good many of these days will be spent sitting on your bedroom floor, surrounded by a mish mash of clothes that don’t quite work, wondering what in the flip you’re going to wear. Or basically, this scene in Clueless. Finding an outfit that won’t land you in hot water with HR, but that will also ensure you don’t fall asleep when you look in the mirror isn’t the easiest of tasks. As such, I’ve come to lean heavily on these three fail-safe outfits that ~do it all~. Acquaint yourself with the reliable office-appropriate outfit recipes below… @mariabernad Suit Yourself Suits are an absolute work-appropriate godsend. Other than bringing us one step closer to our dreams of becoming Diane Keaton, they’re flattering, easy to throw on, and will make you look equal parts ‘cool’ and ‘put together’. No easy feat. SPLURGE: For a casual suit, Ganni is your ticket. I’m almost certain that this pink and orange checked blazer and trousers made an appearance during one of my many ‘what fabulous clothes will I wear as an adult’ themed day-dreaming sessions as a child. And now I get to live out that dream! *Wipes away a single, solitary tear.* If you want to head in a more classic direction, this Tagliatore suit will get you there, as will this SEA checked blazer and trousers. SAVE: If you’re looking for a more cost-effective option, this very on-trend pastel pink Topshop suit jacket and matching pants will make your Monday morning infinitely cheerier, or for a more subtle corporate-friendly iteration, you *simply cannot* look past this ASOS tailored suit. STYLE WITH: If your dress code is chill, dress the suit down with a cute graphic t-shirt and a pair of chunky Balenciaga sneakers (see here for a less $$$ option). And, if your workplace leans more towards the corporate than it does the casj, wear it with a pair of strappy heels and either a turtleneck or silk cami, pending what your schedule and the weather are up to that day. WEEKEND OPTION: If you’re looking to repurpose your suit for brunch/drinks on the weekend, simply do as Maria Bernad has and throw on these Reliquia gold hoops, a low-key pair of heels, a statement belt and cat-eye sunglasses for the chicest lewk this side of NYFW. @jeannedamas That’s A Wrap If you’re after something a bit softer than a suit, nothing beats a wrap dress, bucket bag and block-heel combo. Nothing! A wrap dress will keep your boss happy, and is cute enough to then wear to dinner at your partner’s parents house after work. Or you know, to drinks with your gal pals. Or you know, to the movies. Or you know, literally anywhere. You get my drift. SPLURGE: For all those who work in creative fields, this Diane Von Furstenberg polka dot dress perfectly encapsulates the mood of the in-between seasons (especially when paired with these Tony Bianco white boots). For those whose d-code is a bit more rigid, this satin HOPE dress should do the trick! SAVE: This Reformation dress promises to be your new work wife. And, if you want a side dish, this green floral ASOS midi dress has got your back (literally). STYLE WITH: Wrap dresses are best served with a side of block heel (like these Mansur Gavriel ones, for instance), and a bucket bag (this Staud one has your workplace written all over it). WEEKEND OPTION: Sub out your heel and roll with an espadrille instead for a simple-yet-impactful lewk, or go for a fresh pair of sneakers for a brunch-approps option. @sabinasocol Midi Skirts Are Ur New BFF Silk midi skirts are the new jeans IMO, in that they can be worn every single day and look good with everything. While the pictured Réalisation Par skirt probably wouldn’t fly with the stricter office dress codes, it still serves as a good reminder that silk midi skirts should feature highly in your transeasonal wardrobe. Set those calves free! SPLURGE: I’m one more ‘amazing silk skirt-based outfit pic on Instagram’ away from purchasing this Chosen silk skirt. If black isn’t your vibe, this Lee Mathews emerald green number is TDF (to die for), as is this Theory silk skirt (which comes in pale pink and light green, mmmm). SAVE: The cost-per-wear potential on this THE ICONIC satin skirt should have your bank account salivating. And, be sure to keep the good times rolling for ol’ bankaroony with this Witchery printed silk midi skirt. STYLE WITH: A white blouse or turtleneck, a pair of kitten heels and a simple pair of pearl earrings. WEEKEND OPTION: Nothing looks as fresh as a silk midi skirt, a pair of strappy sandals and a white t-shirt does! The post 3 Fail-Safe Work Outfits To Fall Back On appeared first on CHRONICLES OF HER.
