Katy Perry said she was 'broken in half' after split with Orlando Bloom

https://ift.tt/38cG2uw

katy perry orlando bloom

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom. The pair started dating in 2016, before breaking up that in 2017 and reuniting again, being spotted as a couple again while visiting the Pope.

The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019 and have revealed the gender of their first baby together, which is due later this summer.

While we’re happy the couple got their happy ending, the singer has been vocal about how tough it was when they broke up.

She opened up to SiriusXM’s CBC Radio One, revealing the split, coupled with a shift in her career, ‘broke me in half’.

‘My career was on this trajectory when it was going up, up, and up, and then I had the smallest shift, not that huge from an outside perspective. But for me it was seismic,’ she revealed.

‘I had broken up with my boyfriend, who is now my baby daddy-to-be and then I was excited about flying high off the next record. But the validation did not make me high, and so I just crashed,’ Katy added.

The pop star said she ended up turning things round by looking at the positives.

She said, ‘Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life because if I did not find that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped. But I found the ways to be grateful. If it gets really, really hard I walk around and say, “I am grateful, I am grateful!” even though I am in a s— mood.’

There are certainly many things to be looking forward to, with a new arrival and a wedding.

Meghan Markle’s favourite thai coconut curry recipe is going viral in lockdown

Here’s how to make it…

Coronavirus has changed life as we know it, with the pandemic enforced lockdown confining the public to their homes, and the boredom turning people across the country into chefs, bakers and crafters.

One of the biggest inspirations in terms of culinary experiments over lockdown is Meghan Markle, with multiple recipes from the former Suits actress going viral.

Meghan’s banana bread recipe has sparked a trend and her twist on a Pimm’s cup had a resurgence over the recent heatwave. It is her favourite thai coconut curry recipe that made the most news however, as the recipe from her now defunct blog, The Tig, resurfaced.

‘The warmth of a bite of coconut Thai curry, layered with a comforting richness and spike of ginger, does it for me every single time,’ Meghan wrote of the dish on her blog at the time, according to The Express.

‘This recipe by UK foodie darling, Ella Woodward, hits the spot whether you are vegan or not.’

But how do you make it?

According to Meghan, all you will need is brown basmati rice, coconut milk, chopped tomatoes, ginger, chilli flakes, butternut squash, aubergines, chickpeas, brown miso paste and coriander.

And the method looks pretty simple too.

Here is Ella Woodward’s method, as cited in The Express:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (convection 350°F)
  • Put the coconut milk (1 cup), canned tomatoes (1 tin), grated ginger (1 tbsp), and chili flakes (1 cup) into a large saucepan with a sprinkling of salt and pepper and allow it to heat until boiling
  • As it heats up, peel the squash (1 cup) and cut both the squash and the eggplant (2 aubergines) into bite-size pieces
  • Add these to the coconut and tomato in the pan
  • Allow the mixture to cook for about 30 minutes in the oven, at which point add the cilantro and chickpeas (3 tbsp) to the pan with the miso and place the pan back in the oven for 30 minutes
  • This will be ready when the squash is soft.
  • Serve the coconut curry with the brown rice (1 cup). Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer
  • If you don’t like chickpeas, you can leave these out
  • You can also substitute any of the vegetables for other ones you have in the house; cauliflower, zucchini, and sweet potatoes are all delicious.

Be right back – off to try this now.

Kate Middleton and Prince Louis look identical in this never-before-seen photograph

This is too much.

The Cambridges are one of the most talked about families in the world, something that has only increased over the coronavirus pandemic with their roles noticeably elevated to reassure the nation.

Yes, these past few months, the Cambridge family has been at the forefront, applauding NHS workers on their doorsteps with the rest of the nation, taking part in Zoom calls and bingo nights, and now being some of the first to take part in actual post-lockdown engagements.

It was the Cambridge children however who made news this month, as Prince William and Kate Middleton released not one but three iconic photographs to mark a double celebration – Father’s Day and Prince William’s 38th birthday.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also posted photographs of each of them with their own fathers to mark the date.

It wasn’t the Cambridge children’s clothes, Kate’s photography skills or Princess Charlotte’s resemblance to Princess Diana that made the most news. Instead, it was Kate Middleton’s resemblance to her youngest son Louis in her throwback childhood snap.

‘Is that Louis or his Mama?’, one user commented, while another wrote: ‘Prince louis seems like baby kate’.

Another commenter could see the resemblance to her eldest son too, commenting: ‘Prince George and Prince Louis totally look like the Duchess when she was younger!’

Well, that’s lovely.

This is apparently Kate Middleton's favourite tipple

https://ift.tt/2ZqZMa5

kate middleton wine

We just love getting insights into the royal family’s favourite foods and drinks, from the Queen’s comments on Buckingham Palace food, to Prince William and Prince Harry’s beloved childhood meal and the Cambridge children’s baking sessions.

But one thing we don’t hear about too often, is what the royals like to drink. The Queen is said to love gin & tonic (so very British), and apparently Kate Middleton also has a favourite tipple.

The Duchess is said to enjoy a chilled glass of white wine at the end of the day, usually sipped while she cooks.

An old article by Vanity Fair gave an insight into the couple’s life when they lived in Wales back in 2010, and described their visits to the pub.

‘The couple occasionally ventures to the local pub, the White Eagle, where William enjoys a pint of local bitter and Kate indulges in a glass of white wine, but mostly they stay in watching DVDs. They love boxed sets and recently devoured The Killing in a marathon session,’ it said.

As for which white wine she likes, a Daily Mail article revealed that although the royal is not a big drinker, she is partial to a glass of Chardonnay.

‘She’s not a heavy wine quaffer. A 6pm glass of brutally chilled Chardonnay is sufficient,’ it said.

We’d like to think she kicks back with a glass of wine at the end of the day like the rest of us.

Prince William and Prince Harry had a very special favourite childhood treat meal

https://ift.tt/2Bnw9OL

And we’re here for it.

Princes William and Harry have made non-stop news this past year, from their family lives and parenting confessions to the rumoured feud between the Cambridge and the Sussex households.

This week, the two brothers made news for their taste in food, with Darren McGrady, the royal chef who cooked for them during their childhood, opening up about their preferences.

Yes, not only did Darren McGrady confirm that ‘Crispy Chicken with Mac and Cheese’ was the two princes’ favourite treat meal, he also released the recipe in a YouTube tutorial.

All you will need to make the macaroni cheese before you tune in is crispy chicken, elbow macaroni pasta, butter, flour, milk, cream, cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese and salt.

Darren McGrady has also opened up about Princess Diana’s preferences earlier this year.

‘Her favourite dish was bell peppers stuffed with zucchini, mushrooms, rice, garlic topped with Parmesan and mozzarella and finished with a smoked tomato and pepper sauce,’ the chef recalled. ‘She asked for this dish several times a week.’

He continued: ‘She would often come into the kitchen and ask for her favourite dish, and sit there chatting while [I] made it.’

Well, that’s that.

Prince Louis is making Prince George grumpy for this reason

https://ift.tt/3iehQww

Prince William and Duchess Catherine often share little titbits from their life as parents, such as how Prince George and Princess Charlotte are keeping the Queen entertained during lockdown, what homeschooling looks like, and their screen time rules at home.

Now Kate Middleton has revealed that Prince George has been a little grumpy of late, and the reason is rather cute.

At the weekend, the royal mum helped plant a garden at The Nook, one of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices facilities in Norfolk, and during her visit, she revealed her children are getting to be keen gardeners like she is.

Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2 have even been growing their own flowers, and as with anything involving siblings, it’s getting a little bit competitive.

Kate revealed, ‘the children are really enjoying growing their sunflowers. Louis’ is winning, so George is a little grumpy about that!’

It’s no surprise, given that the toddler has been keen on the outdoors for at least a year, as Catherine revealed last year during the unveiling of her ‘Back to Nature’ garden, which she designed.

At the time she said Prince Louis ‘loves being outside’ and ‘loves smelling flowers’.

His grandfather Prince Charles is also a keen gardener, so it definitely runs in the family.

Why Princess Eugenie didn’t wear a veil on her wedding day

https://ift.tt/31qdj4f

princess eugenie scar

When Princess Eugenie married her long-term love Jack Brooksbank, she broke royal tradition by not wearing a veil, a bit like her mother Sarah Ferguson, who didn’t wear a tiara when she married Prince Andrew.

She opted for a gorgeous Peter Pilotto wedding gown, and the design of the dress featured a neckline which folds around the shoulders and a flowing full-length train.

According to royal.uk, ‘the fabric of the dress, also designed by Mr Pilotto and Mr de Vos, includes a number of symbols that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie, such as the White Rose of York, interwoven with ivy’.

Quite unusually for a royal bride, she didn’t wear a veil – Kate Middleton’s was a rather conservative 6ft veil compared to Princess Diana’s 459ft cathedral veil, whereas Meghan’s was 16.5ft long.

This is thought to be because she didn’t want to hide the scar on her back, which is a reminder of the surgery she had at the age of 12 to correct her scoliosis.

In fact, she specifically asked the designers for a low back to the dress so she could show off her scar, and by wearing a veil, this detail would’ve been hidden away.

In a recording she did to accompany the display of her dress in Windsor Castle, she explained, ‘for me it’s a way of communicating with people who are going through either similar situations with scoliosis or having a scar of their own they are trying to deal with’.

Not all family members approved of Mike and Zara Tindall’s royal wedding at the time

Zara Tindall is known to keep out of the royal spotlight, with Princess Anne choosing not go give her children titles to ensure they had as normal a life as possible.

Over the coronavirus lockdown however, Zara has been making non-stop viral news, from giving a sneak peek inside her home to auctioning off her artwork to raise money towards the effort against the pandemic.

This week however it was a throwback story from Zara’s 2011 wedding to rugby player Mike Tindall that got the world talking, as it emerged that the royal wedding wasn’t supported by all of their family members.

Mike Tindall’s father, Philip, revealed to The Sunday Times, that Mike’s grandmother was not on board with her grandson marrying a royal.

‘Linda’s mum was dead against it,’ he explained to the publication. ‘In her day, royalty married royalty and she thought the wedding would be shunned.’

Mike’s grandmother died before meeting Zara, but according to Philip, she would have loved the royal.

‘I know she’d have loved her as much as we do because she and Mike are perfect for each other,’ he explained.

Well, that’s lovely.

Why Princess Diana always wore bright colours to visit children

https://ift.tt/38bpAuL

princess diana

Princess Diana was known as the People’s Princess for her work with charities that helped people in need, including those infected with HIV, but mainly because of the personal rapport she established with them.

She made the at the time controversial decision to shun royal protocol by not wearing gloves. This was ‘because she liked to hold hands when visiting people or shake hands and have direct contact’ according to Eleri Lynn, curator of the exhibition Diana: Her Fashion Story.

At the time, there was a stigma associate with shaking hands with Aids patients, as many thought you could catch the virus that way, and the late Princess really helped dispel that myth.

Children were always special to Princess of Wales, and she spent a lot of time visiting hospitals and centres for those in need, and often wore bright colours to do so, which was entirely planned.

David Sassoon, one of her designer friends, explained that it all started with what she called her ‘caring dress’, a floral crepe de Chine dress (main picture above) which she wore in Lagos in Nigeria, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and also while visiting a London Aids hospice.

The Princess noticed the children were really attracted to the design, and so she decided to carry on wearing bright colours to cheer them up, and make those visits less formal.

He told The Telegraph, ‘She happened to wear that dress when visiting a hospital, and children seemed to clamour round and like it. If you are like the Princess of Wales, who loved children, you don’t want a strictly formal suit for a hospital visit. You pick a very informal dress with bright colours, which that dress was. The reaction is one of awe from young children.’

Sassoon added that Diana carried on wearing the dress even though others weren’t fans. He said, ‘She would say “I keep being told not to wear it, but I love this dress, my caring dress”. Of course, Diana was the first member of the Royal family to break all the rules.’

She also stopped wearing hats even though they were considered appropriate for formal visits, as she couldn’t cuddle children in them.

So sweet!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently living in Los Angeles, along with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, who moved in recently.

Their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, recently turned one, with Meghan sharing this adorable clip reading to him to mark his first birthday. The tiny tot has also started to talk, saying his first few words during lockdown.

The Beverly Hills mansion is owned by actor and producer Tyler Perry, who has previously shared sneek peeks inside his home.

While living in the house last year he shared several snaps of the inside of the house, including of his son’s nursery – which is thought to be Archie’s room now.

The room, below, has a soft, neutral colour scheme, complete with white furniture and adorable plush toys.

Meghan and Harry have also given us a look-in to the home during their time their, with Harry sharing another part of the house just last week.

Here’s hoping we get to see more of little Archie soon.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly stuck on whether George should board after William’s own trauma

https://ift.tt/2NJ1FcI

Here’s everything to know…

Getty Images

The Cambridges are one of the most talked-about families in the world, and from their relocation to Anmer Hall to their surprise Zoom appearances, they have been the subject of viral news since lockdown began.

The Duke and Duchess were the centre of news this month, as they became two of the first royals to take part in face-to-face engagements after the coronavirus lockdown.

This week however it was their children that got the world talking as it emerged that Prince William and Kate Middleton are stuck on whether Prince George should board or not. And their thought process reportedly involves Prince William’s childhood trauma.

It appears to be tradition for royal children to attend boarding school, but this is reportedly a decision that Kate and Wills aren’t taking lightly.

‘Kate and William are modern parents and will weigh up the decision very carefully,’ Royal expert Ingrid Seward told OK! magazine in a recent interview. ‘I think they’ll wait to see how the children’s personalities develop, and take into consideration whether or not they would be happy to live away from home.’

She continued: ‘Having experienced terrible trauma in his own childhood, William is very tuned in to his children’s mental health.’

We’re sure the Duke and Duchess will come to the right decision.

Meghan Markle apparently ‘embarrassed’ Harry by announcing her pregnancy on Eugenie’s wedding day

https://ift.tt/2CRuD7T

All according to a new book.

Getty Images

Sure, being a royal has its advantages – the fashion, the princes, the tiaras, the castles – but it definitely also has its drawbacks, from the end of privacy to the dreaded rumour mill.

No one knows this more than Meghan Markle, who has endured an endless stream of online bullying since joining the royal family with the most speculation surrounding an alleged feud with the rest of the Mountbatten-Windsors.

The rumours and online bullying got so bad that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were forced to step down from their royal family roles and relocate to Los Angeles.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.” – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex For more information, please visit sussexroyal.com (link in bio) Image © PA

But where did it all go wrong?

According to a new book, Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement ruffled some royal feathers, with sources insisting that the news was announced at Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank.

Yes, while it was announced to the public on the eve of their royal tour, the Sussex couple reportedly shared their baby news with family members at Eugenie and Jack’s nuptials.

This is something investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett opened up about in their new book, Royals at War, in which they report that Prince Harry was left ‘embarrassed’ by the ‘social gaffe’. Not to mention, according to the two journalists, Princess Eugenie, the bride, was left ‘furious’.

‘Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child,’ the book explains.

‘This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a Royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.’

The royal family has not commented on the speculation.
