Want some Instagram business advice? Meet the women using it succesfully through the pandemic

https://ift.tt/2Gl68Sn

Life in those little squares has never been better. Don't take our word for it. Let these women and Instagram's brand development expert share their secrets

Instagram business advice

Do you know it’s ten years since Instagram launched on October 6, 2010. I remember it clearly. Albeit Instagram business advice was not on my radar. I was on maternity leave rolling my eyes that any new platform could usurp my beloved Facebook.

Still I joined up. Posted a pic of my baby. The benchmark of cuteness IMHO. I think my best mate liked it. She was my only follower. Likewise I was hers. I’d have scoffed for days in the face of any a time traveller from the future telling me that pretty soon, women just like me, would be make a living from these squares. You’ll not be shocked to hear maternity mumpreneur is not on my CV.

After its launch in 2010, Instagram rapidly gained popularity, with one million registered users in two months, 10 million in a year, and one billion as of May 2019. Only 790 are following me for my pet cats pics. Trying not to take it personally.

Business life on the squares

OK back to the Instagram business advice. As we’ve all come to know, small businesses have always been an important part of Instagram’s community – an amazing 90% of the billion people on Instagram follow businesses. However, for millions of entrepreneurial female businesses owners, lockdown meant becoming digital-first, for the first time. And even now with life getting back to normal, well the new normal, Instagram has a pivotal role to play for anyone with a solid business idea.

And it seems us women are pretty blimming good at this at taking Instagram business advice. Female founded businesses really stepped up to the (digital) platform in response to the pandemic: by May 2020, 63% of female-led small businesses said they were making a quarter of their sales online, compared to less than half (48%) of male-owned businesses.

This may be why in the UK, female-led businesses have fared better during this time: 64% of male-led businesses reported falling sales during the crisis versus just 52% of those led by women. From independent homeware brands, to local restaurants and interior designers – there are so many examples of businesses using Instagram during the pandemic to keep their businesses running. Their spirit and adaptation in using digital tools is a glimmer of hope on our path to recovery.

Meet the pandemic entrepreneurs

Liha Okunniwa & Abi Oyepitan, the pioneering women behind @lihabeauty, took to Instagram at the beginning of lockdown to empower their customers to try raw skincare ingredients. They launched an IGTV series called ‘Quarantine DIY’ sharing their knowledge behind their beauty range, which fuses natural ingredients with Yoruba tradition.

Nuka Nails (@nukanails) was facing closure at the beginning of lockdown, when its co-founder and nail artist Anousaka Anastasia(@anouskaanastasia) pivoted to hosting live online masterclasses. For only £8, those missing their manis could learn how to paint her iconic flame nails at home.

Gynelle Leon, founder of popular cactus and succulent store @prickldn, used Instagram Shopping tools to keep sales steady. She’s also using the opportunity to engage with and expand her online community, encouraging them to help their mood with plants. Plus she is speaking out about her experience as a young, black small business owner.

CACTUS HUNTING JULY 2020 Last week we drove over to the Netherlands by @stenalineukie Ferry to purchase hundreds of beautiful plants. Usually I would do this trip every 2-3 months so have been relying on an exporter over the last 5 months of lockdown. But nothing beats the excitement of entering those glasshouses full of botanical wonders, choosing the plants myself and catching up with the growers who over the years have become friends. And this time I let Dad have a rest and took @dsycx our amazing store manager along which made it a girls road trip! Making it feel much more like fun than work. All new plant babies are available online and the large beauties are in our store. • • • • • #prick #cactusshop #cactus #succulents #cacti #cactuslove #prickldn #houseplants #prickdalston #indoorplants #plantgang #houseplantsofinstagram #plant #prickshop #plantsmakepeoplehappy #indoorjungle #plants #plantportrait #plantaddict #plantsofinstagram #instaplant #cactusgram #plantgoals #plantstrong #cactusofinstagram

‘These months have been the perfect opportunity for us to focus on our online shop and engage with our audience virtually,’ says Leon. ‘I’ve always used Instagram to update and connect with customers, But I’d  never really used it to drive sales.

‘Rethinking our strategy, we were able to create a weekly buzz through things like product drops. Changing sales techniques also means offering open and honest engagement,’ explains Leon. ‘We’ve done this through online Q&As. And taking followers behind the scenes to share plant knowledge and care tips remotely. These changes increased our sales and built interest in our business.’

Instagram business advice – five secrets you need to know

Gord Ray, Instagram’s Brand Development Lead for Europe, shares his expert knowledge

Help people find you

Make sure you are experimenting with all areas of Instagram – Feed, Stories, IGTV – and now Reels. Also make sure people can find you by using hashtags and tagging people or places you feature in your posts.

Create a digital shop window

Customise your shop on Instagram like you would a real-life store. Showcase beautiful visuals of your products through Feed and Stories. Use Shopping tags to reveal products people can buy. Make sure your back-office is just as tidy by using features within ‘Shops’ to create catalogues and organise your full range into product collections.

Know what you want to say

It’s easy to analyse how other brands communicate and attempt to emulate it. But remember, it’s your business’ originality that has got you to where you are today. People go to Instagram to connect with people and topics they love, not copy-and-paste formats. Make sure your bio is an accurate reflection of your business – show your personality and your amazing uniqueness.

Dare to experiment

The only way you can tell what your community wants to see is through test and learn. Post the same content via video and images and see which performs better. Try Live content – a big hit with the Instagram community, with Live views more than doubling in the UK between March and April 2020. Use the Question sticker to invite direct conversation. And if you’re looking for inspiration or new features to try – follow @instagramforbusiness and @creator.

Celebrate your community

Building an engaged following can lead to great user generated content featuring your business or its products – so why not re-post some to your Stories to celebrate your community? Harness support from loyal customers by encouraging them to use the Support Small Business sticker, and during tougher times don’t be afraid to ask for their financial support using Fundraisers.

The one piece of school kit experts say can make children perform better

https://ift.tt/32Ol3fk

Some potentially amazing news after months of homeschooling

After months and MONTHS of homeschooling, it’s finally happening. It’s BACK-TO-SCHOOL week and no you’re not dreaming this. This is not a drill. Parents up and down the land are breathing a HUGE sigh of relief and celebrating with a capital C and plenty of P for Prosecco. But before the little darlings can be delivered safely to the school gates there’s the dreaded school kit shopping trip to navigate. No wait, make that shopping TRIPS.

However, seems there’s one thing you MUST add to the checklist (school rules permitting, obvs) and that’s a bright white shirt. Apparently it’s a school kit miracle worker.

How? Why? OK, you can put your hands down now. Well, according to a new revelation, wearing a bright white school shirt may give children a distinct advantage, compared to wearing other colours. And now, quiet at the back, here comes the science bit.

school kit

Top marks for those bright white shirts (Getty Images)

Psychologist Emma Kenny explains why wearing a crisp white shirt can boost performance in the classroom. ‘One study found that professional dress increases abstract thinking and gives people a broader perspective,’ explains Kenny. ‘So a crisp white shirt helps switch on the creativity button, helping to make the wearer more successful in educational, or career endeavours.

‘In fact, a crisp, clean uniform can be so influential that scientists found students performed better when wearing a smart white lab coat, than without,’ says Kenny. The regular This Morning TV psychologist has teamed up with Dr Beckmann, to spread the word on these findings. ‘Simply believing that these kinds of clothes are worn by intelligent people made students score higher on their tests.’

Now where did I put the Glowhite?

The Best Mascara Of All Time For Length, Volume and Curl

https://ift.tt/3lFV0zK

best mascara

We weren’t all born with fluffy lashes like Bambi. That’s why we love mascaras that fight back: formulas that stay put no matter how hard you’re dancing; brushes that stretch out stumpy lashes and coax stick-straight hairs into a flirty curl. Or all three at once.  But the best mascara?

Well, that depends on a few factors. While mascara is undoubtedly the white t-shirt of our make-up routine, there are some things to consider before buying. First, work out your lash type. Like the hair on your head, lashes have different textures and colours. Then identify the finish you prefer: softly defined, waterproofed or lashes with sky-high volume for extra drama.

Best lengthening mascara: Nars Climax Mascara, £22, Cult Beauty

best mascara

‘You go from zero to hero with this innovative mascara and it’s explosive volume!’ says make-up artist Cher Webb. ‘The ribbed bristled brush is the perfect size and works with every eye shape and delivers buildable volume fast for jet black feathery lashes.’

Buy it now

Best lengthening mascara (less expensive): L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise, £11.99, Lookfantastic

best mascara

This is an affordable option that beauty fans flock to as it makes lashes look more pronounced and contains castor oil to spark growth. Exactly what you want from a mascara.

Buy it now

Best for volume: Chanel Le Volume De Chanel, £28, Selfridges

best mascara, Chanel Le Volume De Chanel, £28, SelfridgesThis is the first mascara to feature a 3D-printed brush. This sounds sci-fi, but all you need to know is that you get extreme volume with no clumps from the get-go. The granular surface of the brush grabs onto lashes while honeycomb-like holes absorb the formula. Together, they deliver just the right amount so you don’t need another dip in the tube. Vive la revolution!

Best for volume (less expensive): Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Mascara, £9.99, Feelunique

best mascara, Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Mascara, £9.99, FeeluniqueA classic for a reason. It gives bare lashes some heft – 300% more volume, to be precise. Plus, it’s fragrance-free, which ticks a big box for contact lens wearers. Oh, and it costs under £10.

Buy it now

Best waterproof mascara: Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Wet Mascara, £30, Lookfantastic

best mascara

A pitch-black mascara that is always smudge-proof and definitely won’t flake onto cheekbones halfway through the day.

Best waterproof mascara (less expensive): Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume On Demand Waterproof Mascara, £7.99, Lookfantastic

best mascara, Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume On Demand Waterproof Mascara, £7.99, LookfantasticMascaras can sometimes be too ‘wet’ and leave black streaks – something that’s especially vexing when they’re waterproof. This one keeps your eyelids clean thanks to tiered bristles for precise application and a formula with enviable staying power.

Buy it now

No matter which you choose, here’s a tip from make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury on the best application technique: ‘As you drag up from the base of your lashes, zig-zag the wand from side to side. This creates more volume, as you are depositing more product onto your eyelashes.’

As for your bottom lashes, turn the brush vertically. ‘The thinner end will help you control your application with more precision.’

And of course, to magnify the results, always go for a second coat. But resist the urge to pump the wand up and down in the tube. ‘Your mascara will dry out quicker as you’re pushing too much air inside. Slowly twist the brush around the tube instead.’

Beirut Blast One Month On: 'This is a crime against humanity'

https://ift.tt/3bdE1zW

Nadine Labaki is a Lebanese legend - the Oscar-nominated Capernaum director, actress and political activist. In a world exclusive she talks about what lies ahead for her troubled nation

Beirut blast
Getty Images

We’ve all watched the shocking footage of the August 4th Beirut blast. An explosion in the city’s port destroying over half of Beirut. It’s a tragedy resulting in at least 190 dead, 6,500 injured and Beirut on its knees. Spurred on by this seismic event, anti-government protesters gather on its devastated streets and its famous Martyr’s Square.

The blast, believed to be caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate which had been unsafely stored, has so far only seen twenty officials arrested. Allegations of mismanagement, regarding the substance’s storage, were also voiced in October 2019 during sustained unrest over government corruption and economic hardship.

Nadine Labaki, one of Lebanon’s biggest stars and political activist talks to her friend and journalist Andrew Threlfall about the fallout. Labaki’s work covers a range of political issues such as war, poverty, and feminism. Her latest film, Capernaum won the Palme d’Or in Cannes and for her the accolade of first female Arab director to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Nadine, where were you when the Beirut blast happened?

‘Our house is in one of Beirut’s oldest districts called Achrafieh. My family was there for four months observing lockdown but we recently relocated some miles out of the city. In horror I saw everything live on TV. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we had been home. All of our windows and doors in Achrafieh were blown out. It will be sometime before it’s habitable.

‘I feel so fortunate my two children didn’t witness the explosion firsthand. There isn’t one family in Beirut who doesn’t have a story of total devastation. The father of my son’s teacher died and I know many many people who are badly injured.’

Beirut blast

Childhood in ruins: playing amid the aftermath of the explosion (Getty Images)

What were your initial thoughts on the Beirut blast?

‘I called many friends and every single one said, ‘It’s destroyed everything’. Only then did the magnitude of the explosion hit me. Up to half of the city is destroyed. Sitting in stunned silence, at first I thought it was a nuclear bomb.’

And so your mindset shifted?

‘The devastation in my beautiful city is exactly like a nuclear bomb explosion. In fact, it’s happened 75 years to the week since the atomic bombings on Japan. Everywhere there were people covered in blood and dust. Emerging from buildings with blank eyes in total silence. There were very few cries, almost complete silence. It was very, very disturbing. People walking, just walking, walking nowhere. Numb. I felt like I was watching the walking dead.’

The Lebanese always bounce back, but Nadine does it seem like the final hammer blow?

‘It feels like a crime against humanity. If the world stays silent about what happened, it is collaborating with this crime. A crime committed by those who allowed the storage of dangerous materials. The world needs to keep being reminded of one fact. This is a man-made disaster. It is not a natural disaster.

‘Direct negligence, corruption, stupidity and inefficiency made this happen. It’s a month after the Beirut blast and there’s still a sense we’ll wake up from this. That we dreamt it. For us in Beirut it feels surreal.’

Beirut blast

A message of solidarity for the people of Lebanon (Getty Images)

How will this affect young people, the ones protesting against the corrupt political elite?

‘We’re all traumatised one way or another. Many of us lived through wars and now this. I hate to say it but it almost feels like this was our destiny. The Lebanese are really tired. We want to live a normal life. My heart breaks for the young. Especially when I see them in the street cleaning up the rubble day after day with no help from the government.

‘The young should be enjoying life, making plans and travelling. Instead they are exposed to this total destruction. They’re picking up the remnants of broken houses and broken lives. This injustice has also created an incredible feeling. An urge to change the world and transform Lebanon’s reality. Also after all the supplies lost in the explosion, I truly believe sustainable home farming is one of the solutions.’

What would you say to any Lebanese who are thinking enough is enough?

‘Everyone needs a mission in life. Mine drives me to make films to help change the system for the better. Society isn’t working anymore, none of it is working anymore. Our systems are failing, not just in the Lebanon but across the world. The concept of representation, the concept of borders, everything is so absurd. People who are not within the system are excluded and marginalised.’

Beirut blast

Nadine Labaki (with refugee child actor Zain Alrafeea and her husband, producer Khalid Mouzanar) receives the Jury Prize award for Capernaum at Cannes Film Festival 2018 from Gary Oldman and Lea Seydoux

Capernaum highlights the plight of 1.5m Syrian refugees in Lebanon. A bit of good news is what happened to Zain Alrafeea, the boy you plucked off the streets to star in the film.

‘I knew Zain was smart and charismatic the first time I met him. I thought this child’s future cannot be growing up on the streets. He was special and I’m happy he is living in Norway speaking fluent Norwegian and English. When I first knew Zain he couldn’t write Arabic, now he can text me in Arabic. Zain now has a future.’

How can we help Beirut?

‘The only guarantee is to give money to the people on the ground working in the reconstruction. To the people who are feeding and sheltering the 300,000 new homeless.’

Meghan Markle's mum is reportedly planning to move in with the Sussexes

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living overseas since announcing that they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex settled in California just before the coronavirus lockdown, renting a mansion in Los Angeles before buying their own property in Santa Barbara. Their new home reportedly includes nine bathrooms, sixteen bedrooms, an outdoor guest house, an office and library, spa, gym, arcade, games room, movie room, outdoor pool and tennis court, according to HELLO! magazine.

While they stayed at Tyler Perry’s $18 million mansion, it was reported that Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, had moved in with the couple and was helping to raise their one year old son, Archie Harrison, reading to him every day and helping to prepare his favourite organic meals.

It seems that Harry and Meghan are also planning for Doria to move into their new home too, with a source telling The Express that they are currently renovating a guesthouse for her.

The insider said: ‘They’re converting one of the guesthouses into a home for Doria, who plans to split her time between L.A. and Montecito.’

Back in May, another source told The Sun that the Sussexes were hoping for Doria to move in once coronavirus restrictions were eased.

They said: ‘Once quarantine and lockdown are over, Harry and Meghan will be moving into their new pad — and they want Doria to be included in these plans.

‘She is hugely independent though, and doesn’t want to be in their space. She will have her own granny annexe.’

Harry is believed to be incredibly close with his mother-in-law, and according the new biography Finding Freedom by authors and royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the couple even decided to spend their first wedding anniversary with Doria.

How lovely!

Prince Harry accidentally reveals his nickname for Archie and it's beyond cute

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in the US since the coronavirus lockdown, recently moving from a rented mansion in Los Angeles to their own property in Santa Barbara.

The couple and their one year old son, Archie Harrison, moved to the quiet seaside area of Montecito and their new home sounds pretty epic – HELLO! reports that their new home has nine bathrooms, sixteen bedrooms, an outdoor guest house, an office and library, spa, gym, arcade, games room, movie room, outdoor pool and tennis court.

And it seems that Harry is quite keen for his toddler to start practicing his rugby skills.

During a video conference to mark the Rugby Football League’s 125th birthday, the Duke of Sussex opened up about family life overseas to former rugby league player and coach Ellery Hanley.

Mr Hanley said: ‘You put your feet up and let me ask you some questions. How are you enjoying it now in America?’

Harry replied: ‘Oh OK, these are easy questions. Loving it, it’s fantastic.’

He also added that he hopes Archie will be interested in the sport, adding: ‘What I need is a few mini rugby balls that I can then get Archie involved with the game because at the moment it’s impossible to find any.

‘But I’ve got a little bit of space outside which we’re fortunate enough to have, so I need to get him playing some rugby league.

‘But I am just unbelievably fortunate and grateful to have outdoor space and see my son be able to be outside because I know so many people just haven’t had that opportunity in the last five months.’

Harry then accidentally revealed the sweet nickname he gives to his son.

He said: ‘Our little man is our number one priority but then our work after that is the second priority and we’re just doing everything we can to do our part to make the world a better place.’

How cute!

Coronavirus has changed life as we know it, with the pandemic confining us to our homes and imposing social distancing rules on how we work and socialise.

Even the royal family is having to follow suit, with the Queen and Prince Philip isolated to Windsor Castle since lockdown began, only relocating to Balmoral, Scotland for their summer holiday last month with their dorgis.

Since their arrival, the Queen and Prince Philip have welcomed a series of family guests, from the Wessexes to Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who have been based nearby since lockdown began.

This past week, the special guests at Balmoral were the Cambridges, as Prince William and Kate Middleton took Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to Scotland for a special holiday before returning to school.

This report was confirmed by The Sun, who claimed that the family of five had spent time with the Queen while outside on the royal estate.

This comes after several summer trips for the Cambridges, from a family holiday in Tresco, on the Isles of Scilly, to a recent day out pottery painting at Burnham Market.

The Cambridge children are now set to return to school, with Prince George entering year three and Princess Charlotte entering year one when Thomas’s Battersea opens its doors this month.

Here’s hoping the Cambridges had a nice summer holiday!

She might not live in the White House anymore, but that hasn’t stopped former First Lady Michelle Obama inspiring us on the regular.

In fact, she’s our go-to girl when it comes to pep talks and calling out injustice.

The world was relieved therefore when she launched her own podcast, dishing out endless advice and inspiration and calling out issues that we need to be having bigger conversations about.

This week, the former First Lady made news as she opened up about her experience with racism on The Michelle Obama Podcast, recalling an incident that took place when she was First Lady.

View this post on Instagram

For so many of us, our friendships have been absolutely critical in helping us get through our toughest days and celebrate our highest highs. And this week on the #MichelleObamaPodcast, I’m talking to a few of my girlfriends: Sharon Malone, Denielle Pemberton-Heard, and Kelly Dibble. Our conversation is a pretty good window into what I love about these ladies. We can reminisce, laugh at each other’s stories, and most of all, we can talk about what’s going on in the world or in our own lives. And with everything that’s been going on over these past few months, it’s been especially crucial for us as women of color to have friends to lean on—a group we can sort through it all together. But to me, this episode isn’t just about my friendships. It’s about yours. It’s about the old friend from school who’s been a confidante for every crucial moment of your life. It’s about the girls who cheered you on during the good times or gave you a shoulder to lean on when times were tough. It’s about the people who know you and support you like no one else. I hope that after listening to this episode, you’ll reach out to them and let them know how much they mean to you. Click the link in my bio to hear this week’s episode with my girlfriends.

Talking with friends Denielle Pemberton-Heard, Dr. Sharon Malone and Kelly Dibble, Michelle recalled the incident, which took place when she took her daughters Sasha and Malia to get ice cream at a Haagen-Dazs shop.

‘We had just finished taking the girls to a soccer game,’ Michelle recalled. ‘We were stopping to get ice cream, and I had told the Secret Service to stand back because we were trying to be normal, trying to go in. There was a line, and once again, when I’m just a Black woman, I notice that white people don’t even see me. They’re not even looking at me.’

She continued: ‘So I’m standing there with two little Black girls, another Black female adult, they’re in soccer uniforms, and a white woman cuts right in front of us to order. Like she didn’t even see us.

‘So I stepped up, and I said, “Excuse me?” I was like, “You don’t see us four people standing right here, you just jumped in line?” She didn’t apologize, she never looked me in my eye, she didn’t know it was me. All she saw was a Black person, or a group of Black people, or maybe she didn’t even see that because we were that invisible.

‘What white folks don’t understand, it’s like that is so telling of how white America views people who are not like them. You know, we don’t exist. And when we do exist, we exist as a threat. And that, that’s exhausting.’

Prince Harry reveals the real reason he hasn't returned to the UK

After announcing that they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved overseas with their son, Archie Harrison.

The Sussexes spent time in Canada before relocating to the US, settling in California where they rented Tyler Perry’s $18 million mansion in Los Angeles.

They recently decided to move slightly further away from the hustle and bustle of the city, officially buying their first property in Santa Barbara, with a representative for the couple confirming to HELLO!: ‘They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbours, as well as for them as a family.’

When they revealed that they would be stepping away from royal life, they said that they intended to split their time between the UK and North America.

Finding Freedom author and royal correspondent, Omid Scobie, discussed the likelihood that they will return with the Heirpod podcast, saying: ‘In March, we have the Invictus Games, which has been rescheduled, in the Hague.

‘In June, we have Trooping the Colour, which I imagine Prince Harry and Meghan would like to still be at, and July 1, we have the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue.’

He continued: ‘I would not be surprised if we saw the Sussexes spend an extended period of time in the UK next year.’

Harry has since opened up about why he has yet to come back to the UK, and there’s a very simple explanation.

During a recent Zoom call as patron of the Rugby Football League, he revealed why he hasn’t been home just yet and promised that he would be back in the UK next year.

He told staff and volunteers: ‘We’ve got a whole Rugby League World Cup coming next year. I definitely plan on coming back. I would have been back already had it not been for COVID.’

Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2021 to see baby Archie!

The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her photography talents, breaking royal tradition to take her own children’s official portraits, and made the patron of the Royal Photographic Society.

It’s hardly surprising therefore that Kate started a photography project during lockdown.

The #HoldStill2020 project, launched in May, was a competition with the National Portrait Gallery, open to all. Entrants were asked to submit an image of their experience of lockdown, and have the chance to be one of 100 photographs on display in a virtual exhibition hosted by the National Portrait Gallery for people all around the world to see.

‘I’ve been so overwhelmed by the public’s response to Hold Still, the quality of the images has been extraordinary, and the poignancy and the stories behind the images have been equally as moving as well,’ the Duchess explained in a statement.

‘So I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has entered and taken part. And a big thank you to my fellow judges. I hugely appreciate the time and dedication that they have shown towards the project.’

Congratulations to everyone who took part in #HoldStill2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made non-stop news this past year, stepping down as royal family members, losing their HRH titles, dissolving their Sussex Royal brand and relocating to Los Angeles, California.

The Sussex family has been renting in California while they look for a permanent home, with the property of choice being Tyler Perry’s $18 million property.

Earlier this month however, it was reported that the couple had bought their first ever home together, choosing to move out of the Beverly Hills area by 100 miles.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially bought their first property in Santa Barbara, settling for a quiet seaside area.

‘They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbours, as well as for them as a family,’ a representative for the couple confirmed to HELLO!.

News emerged this week however that the couple’s Montecito neighbours were already unhappy, with reports that they are ‘super annoyed’ by the helicopters, paparazzi and tourists that have followed the couple to the quiet area.

According to TMZ, ‘most locals’ are ‘super annoyed’, with some telling the publication that ‘they want the paps to give it a rest, because they feel things are getting to the point where everyone’s privacy is being compromised.’

TMZ goes on to state that the couple has not yet been seen in public, but adds that their ‘mere presence is driving folks wild’.

We’re looking forward to a sneak peek.
