I think at this point we’re all past caring about dressing up, so the only thing worth investing in right now is the very best loungewear, to keep you cosy during these miserable January days, where all we can be bothered to do is lounge on the sofa watching Netflix.
If shopping stats are to be believed, it’s the single most popular retail category at the moment (alongside walking boots), with retailers such as Vestiaire and Net-A-Porter seeing an increase in sales for loungewear of up to 70%.
As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, the mood lifting qualities of joggers or a cashmere hoodie are undeniable. One step away from being in your actual pyjamas or nightwear of choice, loungewear can be both chic and comfortable, and that right there is the key.
You can dress them up with some heels and an oversized blazer at home, or down with your favourite track sole boots and puffa coat on your daily walk.
When it comes to the autumn winter trends, we’re leaning to the luxe and the oversized.
You can go down the premium route and invest in some lovely cashmere or knitted pieces that will last you way beyond the lockdown period. Designers and the high street are full of great layering options, whether it’s a dress over trousers or a cropped cardigan over joggers.
On the more casual side of things, cotton t-shirts, sweatshirts and tracksuit bottoms are always a good idea, and can look incredibly cool, just ask Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber.
I’m also a big fan of robes, which you can just throw over anything from a slip dress to pyjamas. If you’re a bit strapped for cash, then the good news is the high street has some excellent purse-friendly options.
Zara Home has an incredible loungewear line, as do Arket and COS – look out for the latter’s amazing take on a hoodie dress.
