The merriest season of the year is (almost) upon us. Yes, we have to get through Halloween first, but there are only 84 days until Christmas and it’s never too early to start preparing. After all, those who put their decorations up in good time are happier according to science, and how can anybody resist a cosy Disney Christmas jumper now that the temperature has dipped?

Soon enough we’ll be getting comfy on the couch with a mulled wine, opening the doors of our coveted beauty advent calendar and stocking up on the M&S light-up snow globe gin because before you know it 2020 will be over.

And this year we’re being absolutely spoilt when it comes to festive food – from the giant Aldi Ferrero Rocher to the first ever Lindt Christmas sharing tin.

But if there’s one thing you absolutely need to pick up, it’s a Christmas Colin the Caterpillar because will December really be the same without one?

Yes, you read that correctly – M&S have given everyone’s favourite chocolate cake a festive makeover so forget the mince pies and Christmas pudding. It’s finally acceptable to bring a Colin out after the turkey.

Retaining the same deliciousness as always, he is surrounded by candied holly leaves, chocolate presents and white chocolate Christmas baubles, and is even wearing red Santa’s hat and matching red slippers. So cute and so tasty.

He costs just £10 – an absolute bargain – and is available in M&S stores as part of their full Christmas range. He’ll serve up to 10 people, but that’s just guidance so eat as much of the classic chocolate roll as you like. We will be.

The festive food drop includes a Chocolate Orange Christmas Pudding (£12), Golden Profiteroles (£12) and a vegan-friendly torte (also £12).

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to pick up your festive friend and present him to your guests over the very merry season, and trust us – everyone will be impressed.
