Earlier this week, Camilla Parker Bowles was due to attend an event alongside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but it was announced at the last minute that she had been forced to cancel.
The three royals were set to visit the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, and the Duchess of Cornwall – who is Patron of the Poppy Factory – was set to lay a Cross of Remembrance at the Field of Remembrance before visiting memorial plots, followed by a meet-and-greet with Armed Forces veterans.
However, Camilla was unable to attend the royal engagement which would have been their first as a trio.
Royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted a statement from Clarence House announcing that Camilla would not be attending.
It read: ‘The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days. She will therefore not be at today’s event with Harry and Meghan.’
She added that Camilla was ‘deeply disappointed’, continuing: ‘I’m told she is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend the Field of Remembrance service today and is determined to do everything she can to be well enough for the major events of the coming weekend.’
Meghan and Prince William will also make an appearance together this week, which will be their first public reunion since baby Archie’s Christening earlier this year.
Harry and Kate Middleton will also be reuniting, as there will be two public events for the Fab Four to celebrate 101 years since the end of WW1 – a Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday, followed by the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Sunday.
