Her on-screen Dad shared his advice prior to her big day
Meghan Markle’s Suits co-star has revealed that he warned her her ‘life would change forever’ after she had married Prince Harry.
Wendell Pierce, who played Robert Zane (Meghan’s on-screen father) shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on BBC’s Desert Island Discs programme on Radio 4.
He told host Lauren Laverne the following: ‘I said “Look, listen, your world is going to be forever changed.”‘
He did however remind Meghan that she would always have his friendship: ‘no matter where you are, you can always know that you have a friend in me,’ he continued, before adding that as a person she was ‘always sweet and kind’.
The actor also shared a story about when he had to remind Meghan to remove her on-screen pretend engagement ring before going out into the world for fear of paparazzi speculation. ‘We were about to get out of the car and I said “Don’t get out, give us the ring. There’s a paparazzi down the street. If a photograph got out with you with a ring on it, it would explode all over the world”,’ Pierce explained.
This is not the first time Meghan’s former Suits co-stars have spoken favourably about the new Royal. Some of her closest friends from the show even attended The Duchess’ wedding to Prince Harry, and afterwards had nothing but good things to say.
‘I hope nothing but the best for her, said Gina Torres, who plays Jessica Pearson. ‘This is an incredible step in her life and to bear witness to that is extraordinary.’
‘We were with each other longer than we went to college or high school with our friends, so we became family in a way,’ added Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna. ‘We’re still family, so this is a wonderful family affair.’
Sounds as though this lot will always be close.
