Celebrating Diversity With Model Mercy Sang “I was born in Kenya but grew up in Melbourne. I am a model, journalism student and editor of my magazine POCC mag. POCC mag stands for ‘people of colour collective magazine’ and is a digital magazine (with bi-annual prints coming soon) devoted to uplifting and celebrating diversity. I always knew I wanted to launch my own project, however wasn’t sure what exactly. My main goal was to become a magazine editor, and having a background in journalism and modelling helped tremendously to become just that. I was able to use the contacts that I made as a model, and my knowledge in journalism, to perfectly curate my own publication. I knew exactly how I wanted it—it seemed very natural to start POCC mag. “Having POCC magazine around whilst I was growing up would have inspired me to be involved in the industry a lot sooner. It would have helped me believe that I could do anything that I had aspired to do.” “Beauty and fashion are both synonymous to me—they go hand-in-hand. The people who I find have both are the people who are unapologetically and authentically themselves. To me, personal style means whatever you’re most comfortable in… So you’ll find me in anything comfortable, and anything Prada [laughs]! Prada is always an inspiration. If I’m going out I’ll probably pop on some pants, a shirt, comfortable shoes, and my Prada bag— it’s the perfect size for a night out. My personal style is definitely refined, and that makes it a lot more easier to shop.” Instagram @mercy.sang | Photographer @josephhaddad__ The post Celebrating Diversity With Model Mercy Sang appeared first on CHRONICLES OF HER.
