Autumn 2020 boot trends
This season, thanks to the likes of Prada and The Row, chunky biker boots are bigger than ever, and I mean that literally, as we’re looking at XXL track soles and platforms. While designers might have set the trend at the shows, the high street, as always, comes up with the goods. ARKET in particular has brought back its chunky leather boots after they sold out last year, while H&M has trouble keeping stock of its platform Chelsea boots.
This particular micro trend is a winning one for comfort, and dresses down a knitted dress or oversized suit perfectly. Just throw on a quilted coat and you’re good to go.
If you’re after a bit of height, then the block heel is a great way to give your ankle boot a slightly early 00s update, though a minimalist kitten heel is still a huge trend for evening events.
Suede boots are seeing a massive resurrection for autumn/winter 20, in no small part thanks to cult New York label Khaite, as well as Isabel Marant and The Attico. For extra style kudos, go for that slouchy 80s look which is so big right now.
Finally, for the more adventurous amongst you, the square toe is where it’s at, and for this we have to blame Bottega Veneta and its quilted leather mules which haven’t left the streets of fashion week for the past couple of seasons. For winter, the trend can be found on thigh high track boots as well as sky high platform heels.
