How to Make Self-Care a Priority April 30, 2018 at 12:45PM
We’ve all had periods when we’ve felt completely overwhelmed, whether it’s because we’re overworked at the office or adjusting to a new life phase, as I’ve been doing lately with two kids in tow. Burnout usually happens when we have a lot on our plates, and the idea of slowing down seems out of the question, but that’s exactly when we need to focus on self-care the most!
When you give most of your time and energy to other people and responsibilities, it’s more important than ever to give the same time and energy back to yourself.
Here are my personal tips for making self-care a regular part of your life. Once you make it a priority, don’t be surprised if you see many positive shifts in your life, health, and mindset!

WMBW Reviews – Allen Young Shirts A shirt’s a shirt’s a shirt right? Well, for the longest time I certainly thought so. That’s the main reason why I’ve stayed away from doing shirt reviews till now. I always wondered how one shirt could be different to the next? I mean, I know that the cut makes a massive difference, and of course the collar and cuff details, but these are all such individual details that what works for me, may not exactly work for you. However, every now and then, something comes along that changes the game, something that makes you think “Why didn’t someone think of this sooner?” When the team at Allen Young asked me to review their shirts, I was again sceptical – This was of course, until I took a closer look at the details. The sales pitch is simple: One shirt gives you endless options with personalised collars and cuffs. Like I said, simple and like most simple things, its also genius! The mechanism is pretty simple. Each collar (and cuff) has multiple button holes that line up to buttons on the collar and sleeve of the shirt. To replace one, you just unbutton it and button on a new one. That’s pretty much it, to be honest – I feel like this blog post is done! For those of you not yet sold, let me point out the obvious benefits of the system. At its base level, it really extends the life of your shirts. The first thing to wear out is often the collar and cuff so having the option of replacing them definitely gives your shirt a couple more years in the closet. On top of that, your replacement collars (or cuffs) can change the look of your shirt entirely, from a spread collar and double cuff to a club collar and rounded cuff…or the other way around, or even the other, other way around. It’s pretty much a thousand shirts in one really – that may be a gross over exaggeration but you get my point. For me, the massive benefit was the contrast collar. I love a contrast collar on a shirt, but really struggle to find them. In fact, I’ve only ever found 1 that fits me and it’s a classic blue stripe white collar…very Wall St circa 1987 – not that there is anything wrong with that, if it was good enough for Michael Douglas and his Motorolla brick, it’s good enough for me! I loved the fact that this system allowed any shirt in the Allen Young collection to have a contrast collar and or contrast cuffs. I even managed to get myself a club collar with holes for a collar pin – something that is literally impossible to find anywhere. I also liked not having to always use the contrast cuffs (that most contrast collared shirts come with) it definitely helps give the shirt a more contemporary feel. Finally, (and this is practicality at its best) when it comes time to wash the shirt you can unbutton the collar and pop it in with your whites to stop it going dull and grey. Have I said the word ‘genius’ yet? Lastly, I love that even without a collar attached you have a mandarin collar that actually fits your neck rather than drape somewhere around your collarbone. Again, this is something I often struggle with so it really stands out for me. I think its fair to say that I totally love this product. I love not only the simplicity of the idea but also how practical it is. Since these shirts landed on my doorstep I literally haven’t stopped wearing them (as you can tell from my IG account), they fit perfectly and the collar options make me think I’m wearing a new shirt every time I leave the house. It’s pretty freaking awesome. If you need three new shirts but can only afford one, I suggest you take a look at Allen Young (Heeeeyyooo…they should make that little rhyme their slogan!) If you’re based in New York, then I think it’s worth making an appointment for a customised fitting and fabric selection to take your personalisation to the next level. Okay. Stay fancy. whatmyboyfriendwore
SHOES SHOES SHOES: 3 STYLES WE ALL NEED THIS SPRING April 27, 2018 at 02:19PM
Fashion Month lies far behind us, and we are all dosed up on inspiration, so it’s time to rethink our wardrobe and start strategizing on the spring-summer pieces we ALL NEED! Let’s start at the bottom with – and work our way up – our most favourite part: shoes!
Without any doubt, pointy footwear is STILL HOT. No show this Fashion Month suggest we need to divert away from this trend, it’s gave us more options such as the never-really-been-away-but-love-to-call-it-comeback kitten heel. Personally I can relate both of the above, and have no objection whatsoever in wearing either of those two, but this might not be the case for you. Therefore I teamed up with CHARLES & KEITH – the Singapore born, internationally raised footwear brand – and to make your life easier we created the “Shoe must-have” list for this Spring!
So the two trends we focussed on are the low heel – or kitten heel – and the ever so stylish pointy nose. Both trends I adore, but as I mentioned, maybe not – yet – your cup of tea, and for that I’m showing you how to wear these trends.
We were lucky to have had a few warm days in New York already, so the looks I’m wearing are actual spring appropriate looks, and will definitely help you to dress from day-to-night, office to dinner, and drinks to dance party!
No matter if you are the minimalist, or the girl who loves to wear colour, you will be 100% ready for spring investing in these shoes!
For my first look I’m wearing CHARLES & KEITH sunglasses, bag, and of course, shoes. I paired it with a Balenciaga oversized shirt, and a Designer’s Remix skirt. To me, this is the ultimate happy summer look for both city or country life!
The second look is way more urban, and great for colder summer days, or early summer mornings, when a cold breeze rules over before the sun warms it up. I’m wearing CHARLES & KEITH slingback heels in the perfect nude, which goes great with an all-denim look (the jacket is Balenciaga, jeans Gucci, and sunglasses Celine).
For the last look I channeled my inner-minimalist. I’m usually not really minimal in my looks and styling, but for these shoes, and the super sophisticated design of the bag, I felt I had to. Here’s where CHARLES & KEITH does best, their styles are so easy to combine, and make even the most simple looks so much more interesting. I’m wearing CHARLES & KEITH kitten heels, and bag, with an oversized mens trousers from Suit Supply, with a Tomas Maier shirt, and Celine sunglasses.

CRUISE SEASON IS ABOUT TO START – AND THEN WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT THOSE ON THE SEA… April 26, 2018 at 12:25PM
Last year I went to Los Angeles for the first time. Can you imagine! I really hadn’t been, and I couldn’t be more excited. What was even more exciting, though, was that I would be there for the Dior Cruise 2018 show, which was again a first for me. In the middle of “nowhere” – because that’s how it felt – but in reality, in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas to be precise, Maria Grazia’s first Cruise collection for Dior walked down nature’s purest runway. You remember, right? Well, I do. It was unforgettable, and ever since, I’ve been secretly praying I would be able to witness such a spectacle before… Well, Cruise 2019 season is about to start, and there’s a lot waiting for us…
Starting with one of our favorites: Chanel. The iconic French brand will be showing their 2019 Cruise collection in Paris, and reside in the luxurious Ritz hotel for the week. Dior, the brand that blew our minds with last year’s desert destination – read above – will be setting foot in the French historic Chantilly Stables – just 30 miles from Paris – for their new Cruise collection. Both Louis Vuitton and Gucci will be also be showing their Cruise 2019 collection in France, however, Prada chose a more urban location: New York.
Rumor goes that I will be taking you with me to two of the Cruise shows this season… Can you guess which ones?

Hi Everyone!
It’s Tanesha chiming in before sharing this week’s Dear Diary entry written by a GWC reader. If you aren’t familiar with this column, check out this post explaining what it is and why I started it.
We’re receiving tons of entries covering a variety of topics, so thank you all for sending them and keep ’em coming, I’ll continue to share them through the year.
This week’s entry tells a story of a woman who’s frustrated with constantly being called overweight in a culture where her natural size is above the norm.

My Move West
It has officially been 4 months of living in the sunny state of California, so I wanted to give you all an official update on how the move went!
So as you all know, at the beginning of this year, I got my own place! To be honest, it was a huge step for me as it was the first apartment I rented that was 100% my own, and let me tell you, living alone is a strange and beautiful thing.
When I moved in it was a completely blank slate and I have had such a fun time bring it to life (apartment tour post coming soon, I promise!) The best decision I made in my move, apart from deciding to get my own place, was to hire movers to help me get there in one piece! I worked with a local Minneapolis company called Day Makers Moving + Storage and they were a complete dream to work with. It meant so much to me to know that my belongings were in safe hands as I journeyed my way west.
So in honor of being in California for 1/4 a year, I put together this dreamy little video for you all on a recent trip to Joshua Tree. I hope you enjoy!

MY PASTEL OBSESSION April 24, 2018 at 04:34PM
Funny enough my obsession with pastel – and pink in specific – didn’t start Yeats ago, when I was a little girl and as one would expect, being pink all the way. On the contrary. As far as I can remember, I never had a thing for it, really, until maybe two years ago. Pastel pink became “millennial pink” and suddenly it was everywhere. Brands created whole brand identities around it, pink walls became essential to interior designers, and I hadn’t seen as many pastel pink collections ever on a runway. And until today, I am, and I feel confident saying we all are, still very much obsessing over it. It’s not over, and I feel it’s going to be here to stay…
Even more, so I found out, pastel pink – or millennial pink – in combination with other pastel colors, such as yellow or baby blue are just rad. Other than you might expect, it doesn’t make you feel like an Easter figure in the wild, but it lifts your mood, and makes you look rather sophisticated. But I do understand that this is a lot for some of you, and don’t worry, that’s okay, too. However, if you feel only the slightest appealed to what I’m wearing today – YES this is part of the Versace Tribute Collection, and it’s so retro – you should definitely try. Maybe the pink is not for you, but how about a baby blue suit, with soft pink slides? Don’t you think that could be cute, right! Trust me on this one – if you don’t want to go all the way, combine it with your favourite pair of blue jeans – and you will embrace spring as you have never before. Let the sun shine!
