4 Go-To Sneakers That Always Look Chic May 30, 2018 at 11:00AM
Here’s How To Shop Online Like A Pro I’ll never forget the joy of receiving my first online purchase in the mail. The year was 2008 (a.k.a 10 years ago, excuse my while I go breathe into a paper bag), the item in question was a questionable pair of high heels—so high, in fact, that they ended in a rolled ankle on more than one occasion, and the store from whence they came was London’s greatest export, Topshop.com. I’d officially arrived in the future! My screams of delight could be heard throughout every corner of England that morning, as the little shoe present I’d ordered for myself on the web arrived on my doorstep. A life was changed forever. Since then, I’ve filled more online shopping baskets with globally-sourced purchases than you could point your computer mouse at. Sure, it’ll never be as thrilling as the first time (nothing is), but I still love returning home from a long day at work to a gift from my past self. Thanks a milli, me. The online shopping landscape has changed a mighty bit since “back in my day” as well. Same-day delivery means that I often swivel around in my office chair, peruse the internet for a hot minute, and have something delivered to my desk well in advance of that evening’s dinner plans. Instagram has become my shopping Nirvana. Consignment stores have replaced IRL vintage stores as my favourite place to nab a ~bargain~. I’m not alone in my lust for online shopping, either. Oh, no. I’m surrounded by fellow enthusiasts (/addicts) on a daily basis, such is the nature of my work. So I took the only logical next step possible, and asked the COH team to put their heads together and create a list of online shopping tips to end all others. Below, our guide to shopping like a motherflippin’ pro online… —— Carmen, Founder/Editor Shopping tips: “Scroll through pages and command click to open everything you semi-like in tabs before you inspect closely. Look through every image to closely inspect fit—hover over image if it gives a high res view. And, always go on the brand’s Instagram and search for real life pics of people wearing it to give you a better idea of what it looks like on different body types.” Favourite online store: Need Supply —— Georgie, Creative Assistant Shopping tips: “SHOPTAGR is a good plugin on your computer to have! When you are on an item you like, you press that plugin and it will add it to your wishlist, and you can ask it to notify you when it goes on sale. I have also started shopping vintage more via Instagram rather than Vestiaire and The RealReal because it’s more curated—you can find more unique pieces and you can see it styled/it’s usually better priced. Some favourites are: @luciazolea, @sealaloko, @londono.nyc, @shopthebreak, @casa_shop (for homewares) and @shopbackhere.)” Favourite online store: KM20 and Opening Ceremony —— Jai, Editorial Assistant Shopping tips: “Always look for the same item on different sites to compare price (including shipping/conversion if not an AUS site). Also, look for the same item on different sites to see how it looks on various models—I also always look for it on Instagram to see how other people have worn it. Very helpful.” Favourite online store: FarFetch —— Madeleine, Content Editor Shopping tips: “I recently downloaded the ‘Honey’ plugin, which is amazing. It pretty much scours the Internet for discount codes and then applies it to your shopping. Is this morally sound? I’m not sure…. I always find the best stuff on consignment stores like The RealReal, but they can be super overwhelming to navigate. I’ve found that their mobile customisation feature has been super useful for this—you can tailor your search to specific designers, categories, sizes, colours, budgets, etc. Genius. My friend Betsy taught me pretty much everything I know when it comes to the RealReal (hey, girl!) so I’m passing the mic over to her for a second: ‘I make a feed for everything I’m looking for, no matter how specific or unattainable it is (I have one for Khaite, because I love everything Khaite and another for Valentino pumps. Make sure to only tick the brands you want to see in your feed—there are so many random/awful things/brands on there, and you need to filter those out any way you can. You have to check it as often as possible, too, so I use it as my morning wake-up activity or when I’m travelling short distances.’” Favourite online store: The RealReal and My Chameleon —— Olive, Executive Assistant Shopping tips: “If possible, I always watch the video of the model wearing the product I am interested in buying. I find it really helps with giving you a better idea on how the item fits and moves on the body. One of my friends also told me a helpful tip—if you start a conversation with those super annoying BOT things and ask them about current discount codes/offers, it saves time searching for them and sometimes they will send you exclusive offers.” Favourite online store: Net-A-Porter —— Happy shopping, errybody! THIS TIME LAST YEAR, AND NOW AGAIN: DIOR CRUISE 2019 May 24, 2018 at 11:45AM
I just landed in Paris, for the Dior Cruise 2019 show, and it makes me all sentimental to last year… so happy am I, to be here with Dior, again. For that record, I’m always happy, when invited to a big show like this. It’s a true honor, and that will NEVER change. But what made last year so special? Well, let me explain…
Last year May I flew to LA for the Dior Cruise 2018 show, which was my first EVER Cruise show to attend. And while dancing on the beach with sunset, just before the Dior Surf Party started, I realized… this had been so very high on my wishlist, but as with so many aspects of my job, it hadn’t been all my hands. Sometimes – as with these Cruise shows – you have to wait with patience for it to happen. Don’t get me wrong, by “waiting patiently” I’m not saying that when you sit and wait – literally – something like this will happen. On the contrary! Years of work and brand partnerships with fashion houses like Dior and Chanel brought me to their Cruise shows. This year it was actually the first Chanel Cruise show I ever attended… 7 years after starting Thefashionguitar.com! So what I really mean by waiting patiently, is that sometimes you can’t force these things. There’s no push other than working hard, delivering great content, and building strong relationships. In the end it’s the brand that’s deciding, you can only give them your best and hope it will happen.
And then, when it does happen, it’s a dream coming true! Never will I ever take this for granted. Never will I allow myself to feel this is normal, because it’s not. These are the perks of my job, this is what I’ve worked so hard for. And I know that on your end it doesn’t seem like hard work, but trust me, it’s a never-ending, non-stop, never not working job. Which I truly madly and deeply love. Over and over again!
On my Instagram you will get all the latest updates of my stay in Paris with Dior, so make sure you follow me there, too!

5 DIY Teeth Whitening Recipes That Really Work May 23, 2018 at 12:45PM
As someone who’s constantly taking pictures, I can immediately tell when my teeth aren’t looking their whitest. Before I got pregnant with Madina, I would bleach every few months, but while I was pregnant, I did some research to see what I could do to whiten using natural remedies.
Here are five DIY teeth whiteners that are great, natural alternatives (and you might already have all the ingredients in your kitchen)!

French-Girl Style Fatigue? Let These 5 Cities Inspire You Instead I’d be fibbing through my teeth if I said I didn’t spend approximately 86% of my online life lurking the likes of Sabina Socol, Jeanne Damas, Louise Foillan and Emma Rowan Rose. There’s a reason these women command so much of our collective attention, and perhaps too why including ‘French Girl’ in any story title is like stumbling upon a little pot of SEO gold ;). When I throw jeans, a sweater and boots on, I doubt my own mother would be able to pick me out in a lineup, so unremarkable do I look. See, however, when a french girl does the same, a style icon is born. The formula French It-girls like Jeanne and Sabina subscribe to when getting dressed is unwaveringly simple—espadrilles and vintage jeans here, frilly lace tops and basket bags there—which begets the question: how do they manage to make it all look so damn good? A natural approach to (10/10) beauty can’t hurt, nor could a confident yet laid-back attitude… But, we’re not here to discuss french girl style! Enough think pieces on the subject have been spawned to last us a lifetime (guilty as charged), and lest we forget there’s 4,415 cities outside of Paris that are filled with stylish inhabitants that wake up with the sun every morning to get dressed. Since we’ve all got places to be/people to see, we whittled that list down to a tidy 5 cities. Now, kick back with a beverage of your choosing, and allow them to inspire the heck out of you below! COPENHAGEN Danish girls really have that whole ‘I didn’t choose my outfit, my outfit chose me’ thang on lock, don’t they? Effortless, cool and chic, we would not hate crawling into the wardrobe of every single girl below, where we’d take happily up residency for the rest of our days. 4 Reasons Why You Should Be Eating Spinach May 16, 2018 at 12:45PM
While relying on supplements to get your daily vitamin intake is one option, I prefer to eat a balanced diet that includes an array of foods that naturally have all the vitamins and minerals my body needs.
When you learn about the healing properties of some of the things you might already have in your fridge or pantry, it’s really mind-blowing, whether you’re fighting inflammation with turmeric or clearing up your skin with apple cider vinegar.
One of my recent go-tos has been spinach — which may sound boring at first, but I promise you’ll be more excited about seeing it on your plate once you understand how good it is for you! It’s an easy swap for other lettuces in salads and tacos, and is a great addition to smoothies because it packs a ton of nutrients without affecting the overall taste too much.
I could go on and on, but to start, here are four major health benefits that will make you want to embrace spinach every day:
How To Get A Half-Up Half-Down ‘Do, Ala Hansen & Gretel Hansen & Gretel presented their latest (and littest) collection last night, and can we just say W-O-W! With fruity patterns, bold stripes, swish double denim, adorable checks, florals and gold glitter garments, the collection made us want to throw out our entire wardrobe and start afresh with nothing but H&G to rebuild it. Let’s just say we were somewhere between cloud nine and the heart eye emoji. Ily, guys! But it wasn’t just the clothes that lit up the runway. Oh, no! The hair was so chic and cute that we begged the brand to let us in on all their deepest, darkest hair secrets. Turns out it was the masterful hands at KMS that were putting out all these fresh hair #lewks, and they did us the honour of jumping in the hairdresser’s seat to get the full ~scoop~ on how to recreate it at home. If you like looking and feeling pretty, then read on to find, friends. Here goes! “ 1) Prep the hair with KMS Add Volume Shampoo and Add Volume Leave in conditioner. Use a spray conditioner instead of a cream, it will keep the hair lighter and easier for you when styling.” “2) Apply KMS Add Volume Styling Foam and two pumps of KMS Add Volume Liquid Dust to the mid lengths and ends.” “3) Using a hairdryer, blow-dry your hair using your fingers to move the hair around while taking out the moisture.” “4) Take a paddle brush or medium round brush and smoothen out and unruly kinks or curls.” “5) Add in a centre part and begin to form a wave into the hair using a medium size tong. Apply KMS Thermashape 2 in 1to each section securing the shape. We are trying to achieve a wave not a curl.” “6) Once the hair is wavy and polished, take a section from above each ear to below the round of the head where the nape begins. Place your rope underneath this section and tie in a knot. Wrap the remaining excess rope around the pony tail for 2cm. 3-4cm for a higher impact result.” “7) Place your rope underneath this section and tie in a knot. Wrap the remaining excess rope around the pony tail for 2cm. 3-4cm for a higher impact result.” “8) Apply KMS Hairplay Playable Texture to the hair to add definition and hold. Spray your Playable Texture from above allowing the product to sit naturally onto the hair.” The post How To Get A Half-Up Half-Down ‘Do, Ala Hansen & Gretel appeared first on CHRONICLES OF HER. Everything You Need To Know About MBFWA 2018 Hello friends, family, esteemed colleagues and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week devotees! Welcome to this year’s 5-day fashion bender (more commonly referred to as fashion week) here Down Under. This week, the COH team will be running around in both freezing and unseasonably steamy days (cheers, weather, you confusing son of a gun) to bring you all the hautest trends fresh off the runway, cutest faces and flyest outfits loitering out the front. Also, the most ~random~ happenings that the four walls of Sydney’s Carriageworks shall inevitably bear witness to during this, the most wonderful time of the year. With heels that are already blistered c/o ill-fitting heels, a laptop that keeps dying on me, and way too much caffeine in my system, I’ll be here to make sure you know what’s up. But first, a few house rules… 1) Check yourself (in daily), lest you wreck yourself We’ll be updating this post regularly, so make sure to stop by daily (or hourly, or heck, every 5 minutes) to keep up to speed. 2) Come say g’day to the team if you see us about We don’t bite (much). 3) Pop on over to the COH Instagram for the least boring, least annoying #MBFWA spam of your life* *Or money back, guaranteed. Ready? Okay! HERE GOES! Camilla and Marc Packed Our Bags And Sent Us To Mars First thing’s first: did you catch the intergalactic, magical spectacle that was the Camilla and Marc show last night? Ex-squeeeeeze me while I scoop my jaw back up off the floor!!! Okay, back. Maybe you couldn’t see the show all the way down here on Earth, since it took place in space and all. If that’s the case, Earthlings, then buckle in because we’re about to fill you in like Craig David. Aside from the setting (which was built with lots of love and 60 whole tonnes of sand) and the sheer quantity of the crowd (800 peeps, including lots of VIPeeps), the collection itself was truly outta this world (geddit, GEDDIT?). Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman—the design heroes behind the label—are celebrating 15 years of Camilla & Marc this year. Congrats, guys! According to the dynamic duo, the collection was inspired “by strong, future-thinking women”, which can def be seen in their xpert melding of masculine tailoring and feminine silhouettes. Some takeaways for you: tonal dressing is H-O-T, as is oversized, puffed up sleeves and cute pastel suits. Albus Lumen Was Dishing Out Some Major Prairie Vibes If Sofia Coppola’s Beguiled or classic Aussie flick Picnic at Hanging Rock were remade using Wes Anderson’s trademark pastel-saturated colour palette, then you would have something very close to Albus Lumen’s latest collection. The romance factor was high, the silhouettes were very ~ladylike~ and the entire show called into question our recent threats to only ever wear suits again. Also, we now can’t imagine our lives without a cute little bonnet hat in them. Because, well, cute! Man, I Feel Like A (Strong) Woman After Bianca Spender Soft, flowing silhouettes and suit dressing was all the rage at Bianca Spender’s show this year. We’ll take one of everything, pls. Lee Mathews Made Us Want To Picnic Every Damn Day Of Our Lives Lee Mathews really turned it on for the crowd this year, with the collection equivalent of an ethereal picnic. Sound confusing? That’s because it probably is! Let me start again. LM’s show was a true standout on day 2 of MBFWA with pretty florals, adorable checks, sweet bucket hats and a very atmospheric setting. Here’s to picnicking every singe day for the rest of our lives. Turns A 5-Year-Old Was The Best Dressed Attendee One word: OMGGGGGGGGGG. Everyone Else Can Go Home… JUST JOKES! What I Wore to Fashion Week Day 1 Wearing: Nanushka vegan leather jacket, Camilla and Marc jeans, Manolo Blanik heels and Valet Studio earrings Sydney fashion week day one with Camilla and Marc. Its wet, windy and cold (for us anyway) so a no brainer to wear my favourite winter jacket by Nanushka. This was my saviour in Paris back in early March when it was -7 degrees, and now I’m wearing it a little differently with just a singlet underneath. Its SUPER warm, and feels like a buttery soft donna. Photos by Holly Burgess Harper and Harley
Skin SOS: How I Get My Skin Glowing For Fashion Week I’ve always taken a pretty low-key approach to beauty (case in point: this five minute makeup routine I did every morning at Paris fashion week), ‘cause for me, it’s all about minimum effort, maximum results. But, as I approach the big 3-0, I’ve started to notice small changes in my skin, and as such my ~lackadaisical~ approach to skincare just doesn’t quite cut-it anymore. And especially for big events. Life, oh life. I like to give my skin a bit of extra TLC of in the lead up to big events (hello, MBFWA next week!). I call it my ‘skin SOS’ regime, and if you’ve got a big week on the horizon, or just want to indulge in some *me time*, I highly recommend you give it a whirl. Watch the video below on how I give myself the guaranteed-glow-facial at home, and if you need any more guidance, read the steps below after! ~~~~~ ~~~~~ THE STEPS 1) Remove makeup While I may take a relaxed (read: lazy) approach to beauty, I have a ‘no excuses’ rule when it comes to washing off makeup. An oil-based cleanser is my go-to for getting rid of the day’s leftover makeup—you’ll feel squeaky clean and ready for a deep cleanse… 2) Deep Cleanse To prep the skin for your at-home steam facial—and to rid your face of all the dirt that may have built up over the course of the day — a deep cleanse is essential! 3) Steam Facial Now for the fun part! Get a bowl, fill it with boiling hot water (and your favourite essential oils), drape a towel over your head so that it creates a tent over your face, then hold your face over the water for around 10 minutes. Don’t steam for too long or get too close to the water, tho. 4) Serum and a facial massage Serum is an non-negotiable addition to my nighttime skin regime (FYI, I use Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair which is potent and nutrient-packed, designed specifically to penetrate deep into the skin and address key concerns such as dehydration, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture). I find that how I apply my serum has an impact on the visible results, too. I have taken to massaging it deep into my skin before bed every single night, which gets the blood pumping to my face, giving my skin the help it needs to repair itself overnight. Win, win. 5) Sheet mask No at-home facial would be complete without the addition of a sheet mask, and this bad boy is pretty darn hard to beat. It’s cute af and always leaves my skin g-l-o-w-i-n-g! So there you have it. My easy peasy at-home facial that gets my complexion back on track every time. Performed daily, I find the combination of deep cleansing, steaming and facial massage breathes life back into my skin—resulting in a brighter, tighter, photo-ready complexion. WMBW Travels – Cabana Bay Beach Resort – Universal Orlando Resort I think if I had to pick a favorite hotel, this would be it! The Cabana Bay Beach Resort is without question the most incredibly designed hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Yep, I know that’s a bold statement, considering this is only a 3-star hotel and I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the most incredible 5-star hotels. The thing is, I believe hotels are meant to transport you away from your everyday mundane life into something exceptional. For me the Cabana Bay Beach Resort did exactly that, it took me out of my life and slap bang into the 1950’s. From the moment I arrived, I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face – I know that sounds lame and totally generic… but it’s true though! The problem with themed hotels is that they never go full retard. They often stop somewhere in the middle with this half-hearted compromise that just makes everything a little cheesy! The Cabana Bay Beach Resort went full retard and the results are incredible! If it’s not yet clear, the Cabana Bay Beach Resort celebrates the family vacations of yesteryear by recreating the iconic beach resorts of the 1950’s. I almost felt it had a retro-futurism about it – like you walked into an episode of the Jetsons. As a designer, my appreciation for aesthetic details was off the charts! I was amazed at every corner and just kept pointing things out to Elzaan (who claims she had never seen me that excited)! The lobby and reception (as pictured above) are one thing, but it’s the small things that make the difference, like the retro silver payphones, the retro-themed Starbucks or the fact that rather than having a standard hotel gym they have the ‘Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio’ – complete with a life-sized gold statue of Jack himself striking a bodybuilding pose! The whole place is just filled with incredible details to make you smile. The theme naturally carries through to the rooms. We had a very basic twin room that was brought to life with super bold retro colors and prints. It was loud, but that’s kinda what made it so awesome! My favorite thing had to be the fact that even the shampoo and soap was themed to the era with a little 50’s VO5 and a bar of Zest soap! Amazing! We only managed to grab one meal at the in-house Bayliner Diner and although the food was nothing particularly special (given the price) the experience was pretty fun. The Bayliner Diner is a massive canteen style dining experience that aims to get you fed and back out in a hurry. It’s a little like a small food court filled with all kinds of quick and easy dining options like burger bars and pizza stations. We decided that “when in Orland” it’s best to eat like a local and therefore smashed a breakfast of pancakes with bacon and a side of, well bacon of course. Why? Because… bacon. I think it’s pretty fair to say that I loved the Cabana Bay Beach Resort Hotel. It’s fun and just made me feel happy. I am however willing to admit that had it been located anywhere other than at Universal Studios, I may have felt differently. Theme parks are meant to make you feel like a child (unless you are a child of course in which case they’ll just make you feel awesome) and if that experience can stretch beyond the theme park and into your hotel, then I think you’re living the theme park dream! Staying in Universal Studios definitely has its perks. The biggest being early admission to the park and the fact that you can just walk in or take a shuttle without the worry or expense of parking your vehicle. An extra hour of theme park time is worth everything when you only have 3 days or only get to visit every decade or so. It’s been about 18 years since my last visit and I think I was more excited going at 39 than I was at 21! There’s just something about these places that makes me uncontrollably excited!! We were lucky enough to be given a 3 day, 3 park pass, complete with an Express Pass for our time and it pretty much worked out perfectly. The Express Pass is definitely the way to go as it made our wait times minimal and on most occasions, we just walked straight on to the rides. Waiting in line all day can really suck the fun out of everything, so I seriously recommend splashing out and getting that pass. We managed to split our first day between Universals Islands of Adventure and the Universal Studios Florida, with our second day giving us the chance to go back to what we had missed out on in the first day as well as ride all our favorites again! We also managed to spend the better part of the afternoon at Universals Volcano Bay before I dragged Elzaan back to the park to ride our absolute favorites one last time! It was all a bit of a mad rush and 1 extra day would have made it perfect! Trying to explain an experience like Universal Orland Resort seems pointless – It’s part magic unicorn and part perfect Windsor tie knot. You feel me? We all lead such serious and busy lives that taking a moment or 12 to be completely silly has a great way of regenerating your lust for life! I for one take life super seriously (Elzaan will confirm this) but the moment I walked into any of the three parks, it all just fell away and I managed to live a little… a lot! We did and saw a lot in our whirlwind two days and although it’s difficult to capture it all, I’ll try to give out a few pointers on my absolute must do’s during your visit. Universal’s Islands of Adventure: • Definitely do the Hulk Roller Coaster here – in fact, do it more than once. It’s my favorite ever roller coaster. Ever. Roooooaaaaar! (you’ll get it once you go). • Ride The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. You’re going to want to limit your 4D experiences (because queasy) but you won’t want to miss this one. • If you plan on riding Ripsaw Falls or Jurassic Park River Adventure do it at the start of the day when it’s warm, or maybe just pack a change of clothes. You will get wet. • Take the Hogwarts Express from Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. DO NOT WALK!!! The Hogwarts express is one of the BEST experiences ever! Universal Studios Florida: • Now that you’re in Diagon Alley, grab a Butterbeer (it’s a MUST) and definitely ride escape from Gringotts! Your express pass will come in handy here – the 2-hour wait was 10minutes for us… and most of that was just walking through the queuing experience! • There are LOADS of 4D rides here, we really enjoyed the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem one. We pretty much skipped the rest. • Definitely, walk through Springfield, stop in at the Kwik-E-Mart and maybe grab a Duff beer at Moe’s Tavern, but give the Simpsons ride a miss, I think. • Once you’ve built up some courage, take on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit! It’s not as bad as it looks. Pick Kanye West. Just trust me! • Go back to Diagon Alley, get on to platform 9 and 3/4 and take the Hogwarts Express back to Hogsmeade, it’s a whole different ride! Universals Volcano Bay: This is the newest of Universals parks and an awesome way to chill a little while still having fun. There’s no particular do’s or do not’s really here, except for the Krakatau Aqua Coaster, that’s a definite do! It’s EPIC! That’s it! I could go on forever about this but we both have other places to be. If you’ve never visited Universal Studios Orlando, do me a favor and put it on your bucket list! I’m already trying to convince Elzaan that we need to go back! : ) Okay. Travel safe and stay fancy. whatmyboyfriendwore

This Dress is a Must-Have May 09, 2018 at 12:45PM
Cute (And Co$t-Effective) Trends To Get On Board With RN I’m the laziest dresser I know. A creature of comfort. A slave to routine, if you will. My daily ‘OOTD’ (outfit of the day) for as long as I can recall has consisted of black pants and a tee, paired with a great pair of boots or sneakers. I looked great, sure, but this past year something came over me… The want and need to tsjuz up my style, update my look, and have a lil’ bit more fun with it all. It all started out with the great Bonds Chesty Resurgence Of 2017 (I still wear the same Chesty singlet I’ve had since I was 12—no word of a lie.) The shape is perfect, and they can be layered super easily *cough* transseasonal dressing sorted *cough*. After this, onto the scrunchie bandwagon I hopped. I was feeling cute, sassy, and sort of like a 7-year-old again. I loved it. I didn’t just stop at that—I added socks, hair clips and belts into the mix as well. I had completely updated and renewed my look, just by adding a couple of accessories that cost less than my morning coffee. Updating your lewk doesn’t have to cost a bomb—in fact, it’s infinitely more rewarding to give yourself a makeover when the items in question cost all of $6. The COH team know a thing or three about cost-effective accessorising, so we put together an edit for you of all our favourites (that aren’t going to cost you an arm or leg). You’re welcome! SCRUNCHIES To be completely honest, I never stopped loving scrunchies. I just feel like there sudden shortage of them, really. Nevertheless, they are back in full force! Slipsilk has made the dreamiest scrunchies made to protect your hair, not breaking and damaging it as other hair ties do. And they’re 100% silk. So carpe the diem, and grab yourself a different colour for every day of the week. RIBBONS I still save the gift wrapping ribbons that stores like Miu Miu use to wrap my purchases till this day. Every time. I collect them and tie them onto my ponytail as a bow! Is that so wrong? If it is, then I don’t want to be right. This small, ~chic~ act takes me back to primary school days when I was young, carefree and couldn’t afford to buy my own hair ribbons, anyway. Black and white polkadot are my all time fave—so hip, so kewl. If you’re after a cost-effective way to incorporate this projected trend into your everyday life, hit up your nearest arts and crafts store (like Spotlight here in Australia), or jump on Amazon and have a look at their wares. HAIR CLIPS Hair clips are my favourites; I literally go W-I-L-D with them. Some days I’ll wear four clips on either side, other days I’ll just add one. Variety! I tend to go towards the more vibrant kind—I’m talking sparkles, patterns and shapes (I have a really cute heart shaped one from chinatown, I die every time I wear it—it’s so adorbs). I honestly recommend just popping into your local drug store or bargain store for a cute and cheap selection. If you’re looking for a more regal way to incorporate the trend into your life, this heavenly clip should do the trick. STRING NET BAGS These bad boys have taken the werld by storm. It makes sense because they are practically free, are reminiscent of cute sunny days spent at the farmer’s markets and are the only ~It-bag~ that won’t make your bank account cry. In fact, these ones only cost $6, so why not buy one in every single colour? LIP GLOSS Lip gloss makes you feel sassy. Period. I tend to use it most when I don’t have the time or patience for eye make-up. I’ll apply a shiny or coloured gloss, and I’m good to go! Rihanna’s’ new line, Fenty Beauty, honestly has blown me away. Yeah, RiRi. The Universal Gloss makes me feel like I am J-lo, starring in my very own film clip in the 90s, and I am so about it. I also love these NARS Satin Lip Pencil’s for when I’m feeling extra G-L-A-M. Retouching and reapplying is 10x easier when it’s in gloss form, duh. SOCKS I never really cared for what kind of socks I was wearing, that was until I saw my friend rocking a pair of these SOCC bad boys. Super cute with a pair of sneakers, or even peeping out above a pair of boots or Mary Janes. You heard it here first. All The Strongest Lewks From The 2018 Met Gala There’s nothing I love more than watching a bunch of very famous people brush shoulders in extremely expensive and decadently OTT clothes; observing from the safety of my desk, brushing nothing but Dorito crumbs off the keyboard. You can only imagine my excitement, then, waking up this morning to an Instagram flooded with coverage of the 2018 Met Gala. What a time to be alive! The Ultimate Guide to Shopping Online May 07, 2018 at 12:45PM
Since I was a little girl, I always loved the idea of going shopping. But as I’ve gotten older and the appeal of malls has worn off (they’re especially stressful if you have kids with you), I’ve relied more and more on online shopping. Now, I’d say I do about 99 percent of my shopping online – everything from the outfits you see here on Girl With Curves to my beauty products and even groceries!
That being said, shopping for clothes can be a little tricky, since you’re usually going off of photos from the stores’ websites and can’t actually try things on until they arrive. But I assure you, finding great-fitting pieces can be done.
Here are a few tips for finding and choosing clothes that look beautiful on you in real life. And if they don’t? No worries! Online return processes are easier than ever – most online retailers provide a return label, just in case. All you need is a smartphone or computer with an Internet connection, a measuring tape, and a credit card to bill your purchases to.
